  4. Developing the recruitment plan (working with the MTR Intern on marketing and publicity when needed)
  5. Participating in the selection and scheduling of volunteers

The VRD Intern assists with creating and initiating a plan for resource development that incorporates:

  1. Developing a case statement, annual report and other resource development materials (along with the MTR Intern and PCO Intern when appropriate and necessary)
  2. Resource/prospect research

The VRD Intern participates in the following areas that relate to aspects of both volunteer and resource development:

  1. Assists with collaborative programs by assisting KVAH with identifying resources for joint programs or funding for collaborative programs.  One example of a collaborative project is working with an organization in finding funding for the traveling KVAH “Who am I?” photography project that sets up workshops in community schools and youth organizations.
  2. Attends meetings of the Kansas City, KS Downtown Shareholders, meetings with program collaborators, funders (with Executive Director), weekly KVAH staff meetings and regularly scheduled one-on-one meetings with the KVAH Executive Director
  3. Attends trainings and professional development at the annual KC Philanthropy Conference, Kansas Arts Commission trainings (e.g. Strategic Financial Planning for Success, Grant Writing Basics, Fundraising Basics) and other professional development/training)
  4. Participates in staff reading assignments/discussions in leadership and skill building
  5. Assists the ED with maintaining selected gallery hours

All Interns will:

  1. Assist with activities and events that require the attention of all KVAH employees, volunteers and interns in order to facilitate a successful event or project.  Two examples of these activities are: 1) preparing for Artwalk exhibits, especially on the day of the exhibits, 2) attending and participating in the Annual Shine and Dine Competition for grant money in which employees, volunteers and board members plan a presentation about KVAH
  2. Assist with any other activities that may be of importance to the well-being and growth of KVAH.
