INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
Title/Type of Internship: see individual position descriptions for details of duties and qualifications
Desired Hours/Schedule: 96 – 120 on-site hours for each 3 hours of academic credit (3-12 credit hours may be taken) – internship and schedule will be mutually determined by intern/academic institution official representative/KVAH Director
Desired Start Date: beginning of each academic semester
End Date: When credit/on-site hours are completed but no later than the end of the semester in which internship occurs
Is this paid? No. Internships are usually for academic credit at the institution at which interns are enrolled. Travel to required workshops and conferences outside the Kansas City metropolitan area, as well as workshop registration fees, will be paid or reimbursed.
Skills desired: Specific skills and qualifications are listed in individual position descriptions. Interest in learning about the new art agency/gallery administration and operations, motivated, accountable, reliable, love new challenges. High motivation is key to success as an intern.
Organization/Internship description
For more than twenty-five years, Kaw Valley Arts & Humanities, Inc. (KVAH) has served Wyandotte County and the Kansas City locality as a regional and local agency to promote the arts as a means to enhance the community, provide quality learning experiences for under served children promote local artists and encourage continuation of traditional arts brought to this country by old and new citizens.
Recently the organization has opened a gallery and offices in downtown Kansas City, KS. With the opening of the beautiful new space, the Board of Directors has hired a new Executive Director/CEO whose charge is to establish new programs, increase the database of local artists, assist new/upcoming artists from the greater Kansas City metropolitan area in becoming engaged and successful in the local arts scene, and create programs and services that engage the community and schools.
The intern will assist the Executive Director in increasing visibility of the gallery and KVAH services and programs. Individual position descriptions are attached.
